New Scents for 2016!
You guys, I have so many awesome things in store for Bubble and Geek fans in 2016! I cannot express how delighted I am to have started off the new year with 7 (seven!) new, exciting scents already!
Most recently (last night, to be precise), I launched the limited edition Zombie Apocalypse collection, which features five captivating scents that will each transport your senses to a different facet of the Walking Dead world. Do you know how long it took me to come up with a collection of TWD scents that actually smell... desirable? Let's see, I've been in business since 2012, so that's right around 4 years. It's a labor of love, y'all. The scents and their descriptions are as follows:
-
112 Ounces of Chocolate Pudding: Nothing smells as good as chocolate pudding during the Zombie Apocalypse. Nothing. This candle smells of deliciously sweet, chocolatey pudding with a touch of creamy vanilla. Carl's favorite.
Fans of The Walking Dead show who have watched the scene in which Carl finds and consumes a preserved 7-pound can of chocolate pudding will instantly recognize the motivation behind this scent.
-
If Daryl Dies We Riot: The scent of a worn leather jacket and denim, balanced by woods, rugged musk, and citrus.
Out of the five different scents in this collection, "IDDWR" took the longest for me to name. When I decided to create a TWD collection, I knew immediately that I'd reserve a spot for Daryl and that it would include the scents of leather and denim as an homage to his wardrobe. Eventually, my brain settled on the "If Daryl Dies We Riot" meme, and it instantly stuck. Because We. Will. Riot.
- Judith: The clean, fresh scent of a baby, including apple, citrus, and florals. Reminiscent of baby powder, but lighter and more refreshing. Disclaimer: We are not responsible for any Baby Fever that is experienced as a result of smelling this fragrance.
Up until now, I have not included any baby-themed scents in my line of products simply because I can't stand the smell of baby powder. When I came across this scent, though, I fell in love and knew I had to include it. I hope you love it as much as I do! -
Look at the Flowers: Smells like a field of cheerful, yellow flowers, darkened by traces of damp soil. Just look at the flowers!
Oh, dear. I waffled for a while on whether or not to include this scent, but eventually came down on the brazen side of the matter. I'm just going to stop talking about the motivation behind this one because of the potential for huge possible spoilers for anyone not caught up on the show.
Instead, I will say that I searched far and wide for -the- most realistic floral scent I could find. I tested around 20 different samples before settling on a winner. I absolutely cannot stand the artificial, cloying type of floral notes found in many perfumes, so I took my time to ensure I got it just right... and I did. While test burning the candle, I could smell it all the way down the hallway of my house despite being separated by a closed door. While the floral note is the primary scent in this blend, the addition of a dirt/soil note dampens it a bit and increases the complexity to give an overall impression of flowers that are actually growing in the ground.
-
Ricktatorship: A daring blend of Georgia woods, gunpowder, fresh dirt, and a hint of spice. This isn't a democracy; it's a Ricktatorship!
When I first saw the Ricktatorship meme, I nearly passed out from laughter. For the next few weeks afterward, all it took was an utterance of the word "Ricktatorship" for me to lose any semblance of composure. Puns are the best, and I can't wait to see how the Ricktatorship evolves this season.
In addition to the Zombie Apocalypse collection, I've also released two other scents honoring a couple of other favorite fandoms!:
-
The Oncoming Storm: This scent is a magnificent blend of spicy black pepper, earthy patchouli, and vanilla bean. True to its namesake, this scent is as mysterious as it is brave and defiant.
Usually when I create scents, my process starts out by identifying a character or idea and then moves on to selecting particular fragrance notes that bring the idea to life. However, in this case, it was the other way around. I set out to duplicate a certain "Misruly" scent that I fell in love with from a large company who will remain nameless. This nameless company doesn't offer the scent in question in the form of a candle, wax melt, or perfume, so I set out to remedy the situation, and might add that I did so with great success. I'd been mulling over the idea of creating a new scent to call "The Oncoming Storm," but after creating this blend, I realized it was a perfect fit for the character in question.
-
Phoenix Down: This limited edition scent is a surprisingly pleasant blast of fiery cinnamon, clove, citrus, crimson poppy, and red cedar.
I've had several requests over the years (mostly from my husband) to do a FF-themed scent, and finally settled on this one after coming up with the perfect fiery, cinnamon-y blend!
I've got plans for a couple more collections as well as some one-off limited edition scents in addition to what I've already launched this year, so stay tuned! ^.^
